Winter has truly arrived. The coldest temperatures in years have visited many of you, and for those of you who are familiar with or used to cold snowy winters, then the wait is over. Whatever your location or circumstance, now is the time to take stock of your situation. Say home and warm if your can, and if you cannot, seek assistance and get to someplace warm. If you must go out into the weather, make certain you take some emergency items with you. For those of you who must drive, these items might mean the difference between life and death. If your vehicle stalls, goes off the road for any reason, or if you have an accident, make certain your cellphone is fully charged, make certain you have a working flashlight (beside the one on your cellphone), if possible keep a hand-cranking radio that also works as a flashlight and a power bank that charges itself with solar power. It is also a good idea to keep some extra clothing or other items to keep you warm and/or dry. Don’t forget to pack small bottles of water and some snacks or other non-perishable food stuffs along with your extra clothes, I have gotten into the habit of keeping a container, packed with all these items in the trunk of my car. If you haven’t room for a container, a double bagged storage bag can be used and stashed behind a seat. ONE LAST AND VERY IMPORTANT ITEM TO MENTION CONCERNS YOUR VEHICLE EXHAUST. IF YOU ARE STUCK IN THE SNOW, AND IF YOU CAN GET OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE, MAKE CERTAIN TO KEEP THE SNOW AWAY FROM YOUR VERHICLES EXAUST PIPES, OTHERWISE THE EXHAUST FUMES CAN LEAK INTO YOUR VEHICLES CABIN AND CREAT A DEADLY ENVIRONMENT FOR YOU AND YOUR PASSENGERS.
